I am passionate about music, writing, art and serving others. I love creating!

I specialise in providing topline writing services, poetry writing, playwrighting, creative collaboration, art and graphics.

When writing lyrics I primarily work with musicians who have already written/recorded music tracks. I can write the lyrics, or assist with copy editing or re-writing and/or polishing of existing lyrics.

I also create art & graphics to compliment written words, plus collaborate in other creative endeavours with a wide assortment of creative people from a variety of industries and walks of life.

Beyond being a seasoned writer, the core reason to choose to work with me would be that I am a storyteller.

I have worked in the medical industry for many years as both a front-line emergency physician and an addiction medicine physician. I have witnessed first-hand people’s joys, ups, downs, highs, lows, hardships, and even harrowing experiences that no person should have to endure. I have seen the good and I have seen the bad.

The fundamental building blocks of medicine are people’s stories. The care of the sick begins with learning their stories.

When patients come to me, they come with the narrative of their illness experience.

These stories have power. I deconstruct these stories and rebuild them; so I can correctly investigate and then diagnose.

I have worked with many people throughout my life and career. I am swelled with their stories. While I don’t breach confidentiality, some of my writing draws on these stories. I write from my head and my heart. A place of care and compassion. I write with feeling. I connect.

I can write lyrics that will emotionally resonate with your intended audiences in meaningful ways. I will help your songs be memorable, be remarkable and be timeless! Collaborating with you will be my privilege and part of my legacy. This is my desire, my passion, my focus and my purpose.

I have something to say, many things in fact, and I am ready to say them. They will echo.

We all know words have meaning and power. We also know that songs trigger memories. Your music combined with my (or our) lyrics. can become part of the “soundtrack of people’s lives.”

I have years of experience as a writer. I first began writing poetry and lyrics (I think they are akin) when I was 14 years old. Writing poetry is how I make sense of the craziness of life and how I maintain my sense of humour.
I will actively listen to your creativity. I can help polish it and make it shine. I aim to be the ghost at the table who deflects the spotlight onto you.
I understand the inner critic and how it conspires to sabotage the creative voice. I will mentor you to quieten that critical inner voice so you can unleash your true creative self.
I have been in a fortunate position that has allowed me to travel the world extensively. Consequently, I possess a somewhat broad cultural intelligence. I am a first generation Australian with Dutch parents.

Poems and Other Fairy Tales

My First Book

Well into my 45^th year practicing medicine, I decided to publish a poetry book. My professional practice has been split between Emergency Medicine and Addiction Services. These roles have provided a treasure trove from which to mine rich poetic ore.

For me, a doctor’s job is like walking a tight-wire, balancing the contrary needs of science and humanity. Science is in constant evolution. Humanity is the only true constant.

Art lets us share our humanity and dissect the ambiguity contained in each human story. I am truly grateful to be privy to the human condition at both its most triumphant and most vulnerable. The downside is frequent exposure to brutal injustice and existential absurdity. These can drive you crazy.

Poetry is my saviour, a reflective compass allowing me to make sense of it all – a way of joining the arbitrary pixels of life that with fuller context and meaning form an image.

My hope is that this collection will help you reflect, smile and connect the pixels of your life, and insightfully connect with humanity as a whole.

Quick bit about me

My name is Cornelius “Kees” Nydam. People call me Kees. When I finished high school, I wanted to be a poet or in a band that ‘made it’.

My father however, had other ideas. He was a Dutch migrant who had been denied a secondary education due to WW2. Dad wanted me to have the education that he was denied. Hence, I was “directed” to go to university. I studied medicine because I could; not because I had any childhood ambition in that direction.

I’ve since been working in the medical industry for a long time. I am now in a position where I can provide creative services, including topline lyric writing.

I self-published my first book of poetry in 2021, which I also illustrated.

I live in Queensland, Australia.

My core values are authenticity, connection, and service.

My creative writing is enhanced by my privileged experiences as a medical doctor. Doctors have the unique benefit of serving and observing the human condition at its most vulnerable point. We walk alongside those with moral injury and sometimes become victims of that contagion. What results is supreme gratitude and an understanding that humanity is defined by three elements: folly, paradox, and irony. It is only through creativity that we hominids find meaning and purpose and thus endure.

Song Demo's

At Kees Creative, we have compiled a suite of over 50 original demo songs, covering various genres, which we are keen for other musicians to adopt. We believe that a great voice can make an ordinary song pop, while by contrast, an ordinary voice can make a great song flop.
These songs are all copyrighted through APRA AMCOS.

Our aim is to facilitate the public launching of these beauties. We believe that this can be a win-win-win for all; the listening public, the adopting musicians and ourselves. You can listen to some of the song demo’s here.
